Conor McGregor has admitted that he was drinking throughout UFC 229 fight week prior to his main event bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There have been a lot of claims flying around across the last few months regarding why exactly McGregor was so off the ball, or at least seemed that way, when he went toe to toe with “The Eagle” in Las Vegas. While the Irishman may be focusing his attention on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone this week, it definitely seems as if Khabib is still at the forefront of his mind.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

During a recent interview with ESPN’s Ariel Hewlani,<\/a> McGregor went into detail about some of the things that went wrong before the fight.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When asked about when he’d last had a drink, this was his response.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cGood couple of months ago (since I drank),\u201d McGregor said (via MMA<\/a> Junkie<\/a>). \u201cThree, four months ago maybe. \u2026 I was drinking all the way through fight week last time (for Nurmagomedov).\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

McGregor then went into specifics about the UFC 229 fight camp.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cI had people holed up in a hotel from that part of the world (Dagestan\/Russia), and I would ring and arrange a fight and I would ring them and they would come down to the gym and have a full-blown fight \u2013 no head guard, gloves that were small,\u201d McGregor said. \u201cA fight. I\u2019d win, I\u2019d have a war, and I\u2019d win and I\u2019d knock the guy out then I\u2019d go off and celebrate. Then I\u2019d come back in three days \u2013 not doing what I should\u2019ve been doing, not living the life I should\u2019ve been.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going back there,\u201d McGregor said. \u201cI\u2019m in a better place. I\u2019ve made mistakes and I\u2019ve been man enough to admit them and correct it, and that\u2019s what I\u2019ve done. I might not be perfect, but with a good sleep and a full belly, I\u2019m damn close.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
