Jorge Masvidal is not afraid to talk trash about his fellow fighters when he sees fit, but he’s also happy to give praise where it’s due.<\/p>\n

That’s just what he did when he was asked about a potential fight with former two-division UFC Conor McGregor ahead of his UFC 244 fight Nate Diaz.<\/p>\n

\u201cConor\u2019s done amazing things in this sport, and I always give \u2013 not always \u2013 but I try to give credit where credit is due,\u201d Masvidal said of McGregor (h\/t MMA Junkie<\/a>). \u201cHe\u2019s got two belts, he\u2019s got the fastest knockout with the title, he\u2019s done a lot of great things, you know. But as of late, he hasn\u2019t competed in a while. I\u2019m just hearing things; I\u2019m not seeing. If he comes back and fights, fights whoever he fights and wins, and wants to fight me, of course I\u2019m going to fight that guy over everybody just like I\u2019m going to fight Nate, because Nate\u2019s a huge dog.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cConor\u2019s the same. He\u2019s a fighter,\u201d Masvidal added. \u201cHe might not be the toughest guy, but he\u2019s a hell of a fighter, and he brings in millions of dollars, so of course I\u2019m going to fight that guy over all these other bums. It\u2019s a no-brainer, man. But is he fighting? I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conor McGregor is expected to return to the cage on January 18, possibly against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. If he comes out on top with this matchup, it’s been speculated that he could meet Nate Diaz in a trilogy fight next.<\/p>\n

If Masvidal defeats Diaz at UFC 244 this weekend, of course, he could well become the next opponent for McGregor.<\/p>\n
