Next weekend, in the main event of UFC 242, Khabib Nurmagomedov will attempt to defend his lightweight title opposite interim champion Dustin Poirier. While this fight is not generating the same kind of buzz<\/a> as Nurmagomedov’s 2018 battle with Conor McGregor, the champ considers it a much more dangerous fight.<\/p>\n

Nurmagomedov shared his belief that Poirier is a more dangerous test than McGregor on Friday’s UFC 242 media conference call.<\/p>\n

His reasoning is simple. Poirier simply has more lightweight wins than McGregor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think maybe right now Dustin is a more complete MMA fighter than him,\u201d Nurmagomedov said (via MMA Fighting<\/a>). \u201cBecause he beat a lot of good guys in the lightweight division and I don\u2019t remember when Conor win in the lightweight division. I think he only beat [Eddie] Alvarez and he have only one win in the lightweight division in a long, long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why I think Dustin Poirier is a much better fighter than him.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Khabib Nurmagomedov is happy to sing the praises of his next opponent, he seems to be getting tired of talking about his last. In fact, the lightweight champ grew quite frustrated with questions about McGregor.<\/div>\n

\u201cHonestly I don\u2019t understand what you ask about. This guy, when did he win the last time?\u201d Nurmagomedov said about McGregor. \u201cWhy do we keep talking about this guy? This guy don\u2019t train more than three years. We keep talking about this guy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to talk about him. We have Dustin Poirier, we have a lot of stuff, please let\u2019s talk about real stuff.”<\/p>\n
