The former champ couldn&#8217;t confirm if his management had the foresight to negotiate this detail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even ask about a rematch clause because I was so confident I was going to win,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If it\u2019s there, we\u2019ll go again and I\u2019ll get the titles back. I\u2019m going to beat him up. I\u2019m not dwelling on it. You just correct it, you adjust, you sit down, you focus and you go again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The good news for Joshua is that the new champion Andy Ruiz seems completely open to a do-over.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Andy Ruiz Jr. Reacts To Becoming Heavyweight World Champion\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ANJthzL7uI8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Of course,&#8221; Ruiz said of the possibility, grinning ear to ear.<\/p>\n<p>While Anthony Joshua wasn&#8217;t initially sure if there was a rematch clause written in his contract for this fight, his promoter Eddie Hearn assures that the former champion will get the chance to avenge this loss \u2014 on home soil later this year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Ph9oHB\">\u201cListen, tonight was [Ruiz\u2019s] night but AJ will come back 100% and we will make the rematch in the UK in November or December,&#8221; he said (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyelbow.com\/2019\/6\/2\/18649785\/anthony-joshua-following-shocking-andy-ruiz-loss-rematch-clause-hearn-boxing-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bloody Elbow<\/a>). &#8220;But this night now belongs to Andy Ruiz.<\/p>\n<p id=\"re85gg\">\u201cAJ has the heart of a lion and will come back stronger.
