Following the incident, Romero went ahead a filed a lawsuit against the company that provided him with the supplement.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today and ESPN&#8217;s Ariel Helwani has reported that &#8216;The Soldier of God&#8217; has won his case against the supplement company and is now quite the wealthy man.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\">Wow!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HelwaniShow?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HelwaniShow<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/668bKdan0H\">pic.twitter.com\/668bKdan0H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jed I. Goodman (@jedigoodman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jedigoodman\/status\/1133469814922420225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yoel Romero, as I reported a few weeks ago, was suing Gold Star Performance Products for that failed drug test that he had several years ago,&#8221; Helwani said. &#8220;It ended up coming out as a contaminated supplement. I was told by his manager, Abraham Kawa that in New Jersey earlier today they won their case against Gold Star Performance Products and this is what he wrote to me, &#8216;$27.45M is the total Yoel was awarded. $3M for lost wages, $3M for reputable harm, $3M for emotional damage. Multiply that times three for the state of New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So $27.45M was just awarded to Yoel Romero. And that courtesy of Abraham Kawa and his lawyer Howard Jacobs who&#8217;s one of the best when it comes to these kinds of cases. I just asked him a follow-up question; if Yoel actually gets all that money. He just wrote &#8216;Yes, minus legal fees.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the news, Romero&#8217;s manager Abraham Kawa quickly shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Abraham_kawa\/status\/1133471755232845827\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> that &#8220;The money is secondary to clearing Yoel Romero&#8217;s name.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For the 42-year old middleweight mainstay in Romero, he&#8217;s set to take on rising undefeated Brazilian prospect, Paulo Costa at UFC 241 on August 17 in Anaheim, California.
