It’s happening. Former UFC heavyweight king, Stipe Miocic will be getting his rematch at UFC 241.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland, Ohio native last fought in July 2018 when he and the then light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier met in a super fight of epic proportions. Unfortunately, the longest reigning UFC heavyweight champion in promotional history would find himself on the wrong end of the fight result when Cormier knocked him out in the very first round.<\/p>\n

Holding out for his deserved immediate rematch, Miocic is now set to get it after the seemingly inevitable Cormier vs Brock Lesnar match-up fell through<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, the two have bantered back and forth on multiple occasions about potentially fighting again and it really looked like it wouldn’t happen with the 40-year old Cormier’s retirement looming. Having had to wait close to a year to finally get the rematch set in stone, Miocic knew it was going to happen but he was still a bit surprised after getting the news.<\/p>\n

“[I was] In shock I think, it was kind of surreal,” Miocic said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show<\/a>. “But I knew it was gonna happen… just being patient. I had no idea what he was talking about ‘a company conversation.’ I definitely wasn’t in that conversation. I had no idea about the Brock thing literally until right before I walked out for the fight so he’s an idiot. I have no idea what he’s talking about. He literally says one thing then he says something else. I don’t even listen anymore. But yeah, whatever. I don’t care. I’m fighting him that’s all I care about.<\/p>\n

“He can say what he wants to say, he’ll probably say something tomorrow and… I don’t know. Whatever. Right now, yeah [he annoys me], man. Jesus, like one minute he says I’m deserving and ‘If I don’t fight Brock, he’ll get the fight,’ and then he’s like ‘No, you gotta fight three more times before you get a fight for the title, you gotta work your way up like everyone else.’ And I’m like what’re you talking about? You just said I deserve it…? I don’t know. He’s like a woman when they want to go out to eat dinner but they have no idea what they want to go eat but they say they want to go eat somewhere but they change their mind. It’s just never-ending.”<\/p>\n

UFC 241 hosts the next heavyweight title match-up on August 17 as well as a fantasy bout at welterweight that’s set to pit the returning Nate Diaz against former WEC and UFC lightweight champion, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also expected to take place is the highly anticipated middleweight clash between Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa.<\/a><\/p>\n
