Diego Ferreira is ready for arguably the biggest fight of his career when he takes on Francisco Trinaldo in the pay-per-view opener of UFC 237.<\/p>\n

When the Brazilian first heard about the fight he was ecstatic as he knows a win over Trinaldo will most likely put him into the UFC lightweight rankings.<\/p>\n

“For me, it is going to be a good fight. He has a good history in the UFC, a good name. Having to fight somebody with a big name is a fight I want,” Ferreira told BJPENN.com. “<\/span>I think it will put me in a good spot in the rankings. I really want to get ranked and I think I win over him will put my name pout there. I\u2019m focusing on this camp and getting a win.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Trinaldo is a tough opponent, Ferreira is more than confident in his ability to win the fight. He is predicting an entertaining scrap that could very well be the Fight of the Night.<\/p>\n

“We are really going to throw down. I want to see the level of my boxing and Muay Thai is,” he explained. “I want to see how far I can take it. It is going to be a war, you know. Just throw down and get a victory. That is what I\u2019m focusing on.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only is Trinaldo the kind of well respected opponent that Ferreira wanted, but he also gets to fight on a pay-per-view main card for the first time and gets to fight in his home country of Brazil again. Needless to say, he’s happy.<\/p>\n

“It feels great. It is something that I\u2019m really looking forward to. I want to fight in my hometown and it is going to be great,” Ferreira said. “I feel prepared and just ready to throw down.<\/span> Just more people are going to see me and I\u2019m so excited to show my skills.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Given that Ferreira missed weight for his last fight, some fans are concerned he could have weight-cutting issues again. He says that will not be the case.<\/p>\n

“I think for myself, the calculation was wrong. It was my fault,” he explained. “I did everything right the day of, but the day of I did a few hours wrong that cost me missing the weight. On this one, I have all the instruction of my coach and my wife. I just have to follow the plan.”
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

In the end, Ferreira is confident that he’ll pick up a big win in Brazil. All the hard work is behind him, and come next week, he hopes a number is beside his name.<\/p>\n
