Both fighters confirm they are in the process of finalizing the bout to @ESPN.&#8221; Okamoto tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first meeting between the two took place in July 2018 at UFC 226 for International Fight Week in a massive champion vs champion super fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cormier was the light heavyweight king returning to the division that he made his name in. The only thing that he didn&#8217;t do during his time in the division was win the UFC title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miocic was the reigning champion with three straight title defenses, more than any other UFC heavyweight champion in the promotion&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As anticipated as the fight was, it wouldn&#8217;t last too long as Cormier finished Miocic in the first round via a punch followed by some ground and pound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cormier has since fought and defended his title once when he took on Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 in November 2018. He would win via second-round submission (rear-naked choke).
