Luke Thomas on The MMA Hour <\/a>and explained why Paige VanZant would be an ideal next opponent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe doesn\u2019t want to\nfight me, she doesn\u2019t want to lose,\u201d Barber explained. \u201cShe wants to keep\nbuilding her name and getting wins under her. And this is a fight she could\npossibly lose \u2014 and she knows that. I think that\u2019s why. Also, given my history\nin fights, I go to finish and I usually cut people up. She also doesn\u2019t want to\nhave her face damaged. Why her? Because she\u2019s already said no and that\u2019s a\nreally good fight, you know? For me, anyway. I know that she doesn\u2019t want to\nfight me. Last I checked, she was No. 14 in the division of the flyweights. And\nsince we\u2019re both in the flyweight division, I feel like it\u2019s a good fight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barber (7-0) has got off to an impressive start in her UFC\ncareer finishing both of her opponents. Most recently she stopped of J.J.\nAldrich via second-round TKO at UFC Nashville. The Factory X standout has\nstopped her last five opponents and has only gone the distance once in her\ncareer. Barber feels VanZant hasn\u2019t fought many fighters like her before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe\u2019s a high-paced\nfighter, got skills and she\u2019s very athletic. But I\u2019m me and I go to finish. She\nhasn\u2019t fought a ton of girls that go out to just finish. There\u2019s one thing\nabout being a fighter who is technically good and then there\u2019s someone who has\nlike a malicious intent to finish a fight and I possess that. And there\u2019s only\na few girls who possess that. I know that I\u2019m one of them and I feel like\nTatiana Suarez is another girl who\u2019s a finisher. She goes out to hurt you.\nWe\u2019re few and far between as fighters who fight like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
