Derrick Lewis came up short in his UFC Wichita showdown with Junior dos Santos. That being said, the former heavyweight title challenger performed admirably \u2014 especially considering he was dealing with some pretty severe<\/a> knee troubles heading into the fight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe wasn\u2019t gonna pull [from the fight] anyway,\u201d Lewis’ coach Bob Perez told MMA Fighting<\/a>, detailing Lewis’ pre-fight injuries. \u201cThat being said, training for this camp was really bad. He couldn\u2019t do anything, honestly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t really do anything. From Feb. 12 to the fight, he couldn\u2019t run. I basically was able to hold mitts for him and he was able to swim and do a seated, stationary bike. He could not train.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Perez, a number of members of the MMA community \u2014 including some reporters and fans\u2014 criticized Derrick Lewis after this loss. The coach has a message for those people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll these trolls and all these haters and all these f*cking idiots \u2014 Derrick sucks? Come fight him, see how that goes for you, dumbass,\u201d Perez said. \u201cThese reporters that have never competed in anything other than a pie-eating contest, they\u2019re having trouble breathing while they\u2019re f*cking typing because they\u2019re morbidly obese, they want to question Derrick about his f*cking cardio? F*ck you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had a couple of guys show up to the gym thinking they could beat Derrick in a fight and they got slept, bro. They got slept. People just don\u2019t get how hard this is, how hard it is on the fighter, what they have to do in preparation. The aches, the pains, the heartache, the blood, sweat and tears \u2014 the cliche stuff. It\u2019s f*cking true, man. These guys go through so much and these fans are just the most wishy-washy flip-flopping \u2014 they\u2019re worse than politicians, man. You\u2019re winning and it\u2019s \u2018We love you, you\u2019re the best, your balls are hot, you\u2019re the Black Beast.\u2019 And you lose: \u2018Aw, f*ck you, you suck!\u2019 These fans, they\u2019re f*cking terrible, man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
