Perhaps most notably, Stipe Miocic burst into title contention, captured the title, and defended it a record-breaking three straight times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Stipe Miocic broke the record for the most consecutive defenses of the UFC heavyweight title, he ultimately lost his title to Velasquez training partner Daniel Cormier, who still holds the belt today. Since then, Miocic has been adamant that he deserves an immediate rematch with Cormier based on his previous dominance as champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at a Tuesday media lunch in Phoenix \u2014 the site of his Sunday night battle with Francis Ngannou \u2014 Cain Velasquez addressed the possibility of Miocic getting an immediate rematch with Cormier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Velasquez respects Miocic, and is  impressed by what he achieved during his title reign, he&#8217;s not sure he deserves an immediate title shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"UFC Phoenix: Cain Velasquez LA Media Luncheon\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AiWnmoMNN0c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStipe just put in work when he needed to do it, and he won when he needed to do it. My hat\u2019s off to him, with the guys that he\u2019s fought.
