The winners in each division were handed world title belts and million-dollar checks. Yet in the opinion of Jon Fitch, who held the welterweight title when the PFL was still called World Series of Fighting, those checks might never clear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think those guys who won the tournament are going to be thinking about, \u2018What happened to my million?\u201d Fitch said backstage at Bellator 214 (via <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.com\/2019\/01\/jon-fitch-doubts-pfl-tourney-winners-will-get-paid-1-million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">MMAjunkie<\/a>). \u201cI don\u2019t have any faith that those guys are going to get paid their full amount.\u201d<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jon Fitch explained why he worries about the PFL winners getting their money. He says it&#8217;s an issue of funding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s one of the reasons I left,\u201d he explained. \u201cAll the money comes from investors, and at a certain point in time, if you\u2019re not turning a profit, they\u2019re not going to come around anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThose guys didn\u2019t get paid a lump sum after the end of the fight. They\u2019re getting paid as time goes on. So if the company goes out of business, there\u2019s no more money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jon Fitch feels that part of the PFL&#8217;s failure to turn a significant profit in its first season is due to lack of promotion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo one ever knows that the fights are going on,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s a problem. Something\u2019s missing business-wise. The fights are great, the fighters are great. But you\u2019ve got to turn a profit and make money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do you think of these comments from Jon Fitch?
