Next Saturday night, season 15 winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Michael ‘Maverick’ Chiesa makes his return to the cage at UFC 232 to take on Carlos Condit in his UFC welterweight debut.<\/p>\n

However, Chiesa continues to fight his fight outside the MMA world as well.<\/p>\n

In April, Chiesa was scheduled to fight at UFC 223 against Anthony Pettis. That was until Conor McGregor<\/a>\u00a0showed up to fight week and made his presence felt and in a big way.<\/p>\n

McGregor’s rival Khabib Nurmagomedov was also to be fighting at UFC 223 in the main event for the UFC lightweight title. After Nurmagomedov had a run-in with McGregor’s longtime training partner and UFC featherweight Artem Lobov that same week, McGregor felt he needed to come in and take a stand against his future opponent.<\/p>\n

In doing so, McGregor would invade Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York with Lobov and crew to throw a dolly at the fighter bus that had Nurmagomedov in it as well as plenty of other fighters competing that weekend.<\/p>\n

Due to the glass that was broken from the dolly going through the window, Chiesa along with UFC flyweight Ray Borg suffered fight canceling injuries from cuts.<\/p>\n

Since then, Chiesa has filed a lawsuit against McGregor for his actions and\u00a0TMZ<\/a>\u00a0now reports that Chiesa\u00a0wants the\u00a0judge to hand over “all of the profits that he made from UFC 229” due to the bus attack being a “pre-meditated publicity stunt”.<\/p>\n

At UFC 229, Conor McGregor and Nurmagomedov would end up fighting over Nurmagomedov’s lightweight title<\/a>. The event would go down as the biggest in UFC history thus earning McGregor\u00a0“more than 50 million dollars”.<\/p>\n

At UFC 223, due to Nurmagomedov’s losing of opponents in Tony Ferguson and Max Holloway, Chiesa claimed that\u00a0“UFC had reached out to him that weekend” to step in and take on Nurmagomedov. Since he couldn’t due to his injuries, it\u00a0“cost him huge opportunities, lots of money,\u00a0[and] could have shot his UFC career through the roof”.<\/p>\n

Chiesa is also trying to utilize the\u00a0Son of Sam law which in New York means that one is not allowed to profit from criminal activity and because it was believed to be pre-meditated, all the benefits that Conor McGregor got from that, the publicity for UFC 229, the promotion he got for his whiskey company, all should be taken away and given to his victims at UFC 223. Which, obviously, includes Chiesa.<\/p>\n

Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. All we know for sure is that Chiesa will be fighting Carlos Condit on December 29.<\/p>\n
