Former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones will rematch Alexander Gustafsson in the headliner of next weekend’s highly anticipated UFC 232 event in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
Jon Jones and “The Mauler<\/a>” first met at UFC<\/a> 165 in September of 2013 and produced arguably the greatest fight in the history of the light heavyweight division.<\/p>\n Jones ultimately defeated Gustafsson via unanimous decision that night in Toronto, which at the time marked “Bones” sixth-straight title defense.<\/p>\n Shortly following his victory over Gustafsson, Jon Jones would begin his rivalry with current UFC “champ champ<\/a>” Daniel Cormier.<\/p>\n That rivalry, which is arguably the most notable in mixed martial arts history, ultimately culminated in a pair of victories for Jon Jones.<\/p>\n “Bones<\/a>” initially defeated Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in January of 2015 via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n After some personal battles outside of the octagon, Jon Jones would once again return to the octagon to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 in July of 2017.<\/p>\n Jones defeated “DC” via third-round knockout in their highly anticipated rematch<\/a>. However, that victory was later overturned to a no-contest, this after it was revealed that Jon had flunked a drug test with USADA.<\/p>\n Since their most recent clash at UFC 214<\/a>, Daniel Cormier has gone on to capture and hold both the UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight titles.<\/p>\n Despite his remarkable success, it would appear that DC” still needs to earn a win over Jones in order for many fans and analysts to consider him the “greatest of all time<\/a>“.<\/p>\n Jon Jones took to Twitter earlier this evening where he responded to Daniel Cormier for some recent comments.<\/p>\n https:\/\/twitter.com\/JonnyBones\/status\/1075649237763817472<\/p>\n \u201cPinch of salt, no pinch of salt.
