After their thrilling December 1 draw, WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder and resurgent British star Tyson Fury are expected to rematch in the New Year. In the opinion of UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, this rematch could easily rank amongst the biggest heavyweight boxing fights of all time.<\/p>\n
It might even be the biggest.<\/p>\n

“Boxing fans, hardcore boxing fans, already knew who you are, but this was the breakthrough fight for the general public,” Joe Rogan said to Deontay Wilder on a recent episode of his Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. “This was a breakthrough fight, where people know about it now. And the next fight, the rematch \u2014 first of all, you couldn’t ask for a better dance partner when it comes to promotion. I mean, Tyson’s fantastic on the microphone, he’s hilarious, he’s got that great accent. It’s fun to listen to him talk. So, you guys promoting this, and getting ready for April, May, June, whenever it takes place, this is going to be probably one of the biggest heavyweight fights, if not the biggest, of all time.”<\/p>\n
It’s easy to understand why Joe Rogan has such high expectations of this Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury rematch. The pair’s first fight was already massive enough.<\/p>\n
“There was nothing else competing with you,” Rogan told Wilder. “There was nothing else there to watch, it was perfect. It was a perfect storm. And then it was in LA, so all the stars came out… It was a big deal, man.”<\/p>\n
Deontay Wilder, unsurprisingly, agrees. He says that, for him, this first bout with Tyson Fury felt like the breakthrough moment he’s been chasing for the duration of his career.<\/p>\n
“It was amazing,” Wilder told Joe Rogan. “I’ll never forget it. Like I said, I’ve been waiting for this. I’ve been waiting for that moment for so long.”<\/p>\n
