Instead, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/golden-boy-promotions\/chuck-liddell-vs-tito-ortiz-3-result-ortiz-kos-liddell-in-first-round\/\">knocked out<\/a> by Tito Ortiz \u2014 a man he&#8217;d bested twice previously \u2014 in the very first round. With this outcome, the 48-year-old Chuck Liddell has now been knocked out in his last four fights. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan believes he knows why this has happened.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that, at the height of his career, Liddell was able to rely on the strength of his chin when chasing his own knockout victories. When his chin began to weaken, however, he did not adjust his style, and thusly found himself on the receiving end of violent knockouts more and more frequently.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joe Rogan on Chuck Liddell Being KO&#039;d by Tito Ortiz\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R8l1TCIceQI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was just a marauder,\u201d Joe Rogan said on a recent episode of the JRE MMA Show (transcript via <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.com\/2018\/12\/joe-rogan-downside-chuck-liddell-marauder-tito-ortiz-trilogy-ufc-mma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMAjunkie<\/a>). \u201cYou could hit him the face with a (expletive) crowbar and he would just spit metal out. He didn\u2019t give a (expletive). He was so badass back in the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a right way to fight and a wrong way to fight and one of the things about seeing Chuck go out on his shield like that, it\u2019s like, this is the bed he made,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cThis is his style.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe Rogan also advised young fighters to learn from Chuck Liddell&#8217;s apparent mistakes. Most importantly, he said, fighters should fight smart, rather than for the approval of the crowd or the promoter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you see Chuck go out on his shield, something about it to me, I don\u2019t like seeing it,\u201d he said. \u201cI definitely would\u2019ve like it if he didn\u2019t get knocked out again. But one thing I would like young fighters to see is there\u2019s consequences to choices in terms of how you approach these exchanges and how you fight. I\u2019m of the belief that you should fight the correct way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t fight the way that pleases your boss or the crowd.\u00a0Fight the way you\u2019re supposed too with your skills, and win by knockout when you can. But don\u2019t get knocked out because you\u2019re trying to win by knockout and you overextending yourself and overexposing yourself. That\u2019s not wise. I think part of fighting has to be wise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s exciting enough. It\u2019s wild and crazy enough. But everybody wants every second of it to be filled with blood and the crowd cheering and they\u2019re not. How many times have we seen fights and there\u2019s just a lull in the action and people start clinching and they start booing?
