Time to go back to 155 where I belong and sh*t, right now I’m f*ckin’ ’78, 80 pounds, 10 pounds off easy.<\/em><\/p>\n’55 sucks, man it’s a hard cut. Wish there was a ’65 class but yeah, this is my last fight at ’70 and I just signed a new f*ckin’ deal and [I’m] going to ’55 and getting that belt.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\nDonald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has been teasing a return to his longtime home of 155-pounds for a while now, but this time he seems a bit more serious.<\/p>\n
With the mentioning of knowing that his career is coming to an end and that a new contract was signed, Cerrone clearly has some new goals rather than his usual ‘just fight’ attitude. Which, of course, will surely always be there.<\/p>\n
Cerrone made his welterweight debut in February 2016 after losing his first career UFC title fight in a rematch to Rafael Dos Anjos. In Cerrone’s divisional debut, he submitted Alex Oliveira with a first-round triangle submission that was the first of four spectacular finishes in a row for Cowboy at 170-pounds.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, in his last five outings luck hasn’t been entirely on his side as Cerrone has gone 1-4 with two of the losses coming by way of TKO.<\/p>\n
This Saturday night at UFC Denver Cerrone will look to leave the division on a high note with a big win in his hometown over ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry in the evening’s\u00a0co-main event.<\/p>\n
