The UFC brings it back to where it all began – Denver, Colorado which will serve as the backdrop for the promotions 25th-anniversary event that goes down this Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Denver – With MMA events seemingly every weekend it can be an arduous task trying psych yourself up for some of the smaller Fight Night cards. With the big year-end PPV card approaching and Jon Jones returning to the Octagon again, UFC Denver could easily fall between the proverbial cracks.<\/p>\n
The 25th Anniversary show, however, would not be the card to sleep on in my humble opinion. Yes, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is going to go to war with “Platinum” Mike Perry, and yes, the UFC is ushering in a new era with so many young fighters on this card. But what this card stands for is much more than another event, much more than just another Fight Night. This is the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s 25th Anniversary show. Just let that sink in. This sport we all love is just 25 years old. Heres to another 25 years and more.<\/p>\n
As I mentioned above, there are numerous reasons why you should tune in on Saturday night. UFC Denver looks to have a bit of something for all fight fans. Here are my top three reasons why you should be watching the UFC this weekend.<\/p>\nPhotoCred: Blue HQ Media<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

To watch a legend nearing the end<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Cerrone has really had one heck of a run in the UFC. If you take into account his time in the WEC, Cowboy has been fighting at the highest level for a long time.<\/p>\n
Cerrone is now 35 years old and one can only wonder how much longer his body can hold up. He has lost four of his last five fights leading some people to wonder if the “Cowboy” should ride off into the sunset.<\/p>\n
A win over a younger fighter in Perry could be the perfect way for Cerrone to call it a career. After all, Cerrone was born right here in Denver.<\/p>\n
On the flip side, if Cerrone is able to get his hand raised on Saturday night that could be exactly what the veteran needed to get his career back on track. There’s no doubt a win over Perry would add a pep in Cowboy’s step.<\/p>\n

“The Future” Maycee Barber<\/strong><\/h3>\n
One of the standout fighters from the last season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Maycee Barber is a serious prospect to keep an eye on. At just 20 years old she is already being anointed as “The Future” of the strawweight division.<\/p>\n
Barber boasts an undefeated record of 5-0. She is a lifelong martial artist that first started training Karate at the age of three. She later transitioned to jiu-jitsu when her family opened their own martial arts school.<\/p>\n
There’s a reason why so many pundits are high on Barber. For starters, she has faced adversity less than a handful of times in the cage and handled each situation flawlessly.<\/p>\n
Tune in Saturday night to see if Barber can keep the momentum going as she takes on Hannah Cifers.<\/p>\n

To see who the TUF 27 winner really is<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The Ultimate Fighter Season 27 Finale officially went down in July when Mike Trizano defeated\u00a0Joe Giannetti by split decision to become the season’s lightweight winner. However, many folks believe that if fellow competitor Luis Pena would not have gotten hurt (during taping) that he would’ve taken home the honor.<\/p>\n
“Violent Bob Ross” as he is known, holds a perfect record of 5-0. He is only 25 years old and has really just scratched the surface of what he could be. At 6’3 he one of the largest fighter to have ever competed in the UFC’s lightweight division. Pena recently teased a move to featherweight might be in his future. Insane.<\/p>\n
If you have never seen Pena fight that is reason enough to tune in. If you have seen Violent Bob Ross in action then you know he is as equally creative as he is violent. Pena called out\u00a0Trizano for the TUF bragging rights, the UFC obliged.<\/p>\n
Pena and Trizano kick off the main card which airs on Fox Sports 1.<\/p>\n
