Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who will make his long-awaited return to action opposite Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232, is one of the best fighters of all time.<\/p>\n

Amazingly, Jones’ potential was clear early on, too. While it took several years for him to establish himself as one of the sport’s best, he was making waves in the UFC less than a year after he started training in MMA.<\/p>\n

Given the way he’s taken to MMA, Jon Jones believes he’s got a mind for combat. And he thinks that would help him take to boxing quite quickly too.<\/p>\n

In fact, he believes he could be competitive with the world’s best boxers with two years of serious training.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I started doing MMA, I found myself in the UFC about nine months after my first practice so I\u2019m aware that I have a mind for fighting,\u201d Jones said in a recent interview with\u00a0JW Raw<\/a>\u00a0(transcript via\u00a0MMANytt<\/a>). \u201cI have a lot of faith and confidence in myself.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that if I were to hire the right people to be around me, that\u2019s maybe four boxing coaches \u2014 that\u2019s what the guys at the highest levels [have],” he added. “Hire guys to come in here and we spend two years focusing on boxing and only boxing, I believe I\u2019d be able to compete with the best in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
