The bad blood between the event&#8217;s headliners ended up boiling over.<\/p>\n<p>Because of that, we saw the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov immediately take flight after his <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/conor-mcgregor\/ufc-229-results-khabib-nurmagomedov-stops-conor-mcgregor-video\/\">successful fourth round title defense<\/a> against <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/fighter\/conor-mcgregor\/\">Conor McGregor<\/a> as he <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/conor-mcgregor\/khabib-nurmagomedov-issues-statement-following-ufc-229-win-and-post-fight-brawl\/\">jumped into the crowd to attack McGregor&#8217;s teammate<\/a>, Bellator welterweight Dillon Danis.<\/p>\n<p>This would then start the beginning of a small skirmish between the camps that led to each fighters removal from the Octagon.<\/p>\n<p>Fines and suspensions are expected to be handed out to Nurmagomedov as well as other UFC fighters that were involved are expected to be released from the organization.\u00a0Nurmagomedov&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/khabib-nurmagomedov\/nsac-withholding-khabib-nurmagomedov-pay\/\">$2 million fight purse also remains withheld<\/a>\u00a0by the Nevada State Athletic Commission\u00a0which will soon be handing out punishments for both\u00a0Nurmagomedov and McGregor as chairman Anthony Marnell told\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mma\/story\/_\/id\/24933080\/conor-mcgregor-khabib-nurmagomedov-face-nsac-complaints-brawl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;We will be filing against Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Because we withheld one purse, we will have to move expeditiously to a complaint and hearing. We have held 100 percent of one of the fighter&#8217;s money, so the goal is to get the complaints out in the next 24 to 48 hours.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There are a lot of things here. There are a lot of charges that can be brought against a spectator who came over the barricade, through the commission section, and into the Octagon to strike a fighter three times. For the record, I have a massive problem with that. That can not happen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We&#8217;re taking a really hard look at that gentleman [that struck McGregor]. We know exactly who he is and where he is. I have to let the attorney general determine &#8212; is that trespassing, disturbing the peace? That was a serious action and it deserves a serious consequence.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As for if Nurmagomedov will end up getting a fine or a suspension, Marnell says that both are likely the result he&#8217;ll be getting. For how long remains to be determined.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Both. It&#8217;s always both. We could do one or the other, but at least in the chair&#8217;s mind, I think the commission will be entertaining a recommendation from the attorney general that will include both.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is a serious issue, this is not a light issue. This isn&#8217;t, &#8216;We smacked each other in the face in a hotel lobby the week of a fight.&#8217; This is the night of the event, and it needs to stay inside that field of combat.
