On Saturday night, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon after two long years away, where he attempted to reclaim the UFC lightweight belt from undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. This mission did not go as McGregor planned.<\/p>\n
Instead, the Irish MMA star was soundly walloped en route to a fourth-round submission loss. Just like that, his hopes of reclaiming one of his two UFC titles were dashed.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, that’s not where the bad news ended for Conor McGregor either. Shortly after the contest had drawn to a close, Khabib Nurmagomedov leapt out of the Octagon and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. In an instant, McGregor was involved too, brawling with several of Nurmagomedov’s teammates in the cage. It was a bad look for everybody involved.<\/a><\/p>\n Despite this unfortunate series of events, Conor McGregor seems to be in good spirits. Post-fight, he assured that he’ll be back<\/a>, and that he looks forward to a rematch with Nurmagomedov.<\/p>\n Then, early on Monday morning, he took to Twitter to assure that, although he didn’t win his fight with Nurmagomedov, he feels he and his team won the battle.
