It’s been quite some time since we saw The Ultimate Fighter season 13 winner, Tony Ferguson in action. But now he’s cleared to return<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ferguson last fought at UFC 216 in October when he earned the interim UFC lightweight title by defeating “The Mo-Town Phenom” Kevin Lee via third-round submission.<\/p>\n

After this, the man known as “El Cucuy” was set to vie for the undisputed crown against his rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Ferguson, a freak injury would cost him his opportunity to fight thus setting him back until now where he’s recovered and ready to get back at it.<\/p>\n

Having lost out on the title fight against the now champion Nurmagomedov to Conor McGregor<\/a> at UFC 229, Ferguson has now hinted that he too will be apart of the big October 6th card in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Ferguson’s\u00a0reference to pterodactyls makes one assume that he’s talking about the former welterweight and middleweight champion, Georges St-Pierre<\/a>. Of course, that’s because of St-Pierre public interest in dinosaurs and paleontology.<\/p>\n

While it is all speculation, this would be quite the shocking matchup to be made. Especially for Ferguson’s return as well as GSP’s.<\/p>\n

St-Pierre’s last fight came in November just a month after Ferguson’s at UFC 217 when he captured the middleweight crown from Michael Bisping after a four-year hiatus.<\/p>\n

Having never fought at 155-pounds before, it would make sense for St-Pierre to do a test fight against one of the top\u00a0guys that aren’t a champion before a potential championship bout that he desires<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fight coming at UFC 229 would be even a bit more shocking as Nurmagomedov vs McGregor looks to be a big enough sell on its own and the event has already had Derrick Lewis vs Alexander Volkov confirmed as the co-main event.<\/p>\n

But as we know, things can change in the blink of an\u00a0eye in MMA.<\/p>\n
