Whittaker and Gastelum, both Ultimate Fighter winners, will coach the next season of the show against one another, and meet in a title fight thereafter. Weidman, meanwhile, is <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/luke-rockhold\/report-luke-rockhold-vs-chris-weidman-2-in-the-works-for-ufc-230\/\">scheduled for a rematch with Luke Rockhold<\/a> \u2014 the man who ended his title reign \u2014 at UFC 230 in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Ariel Helwani&#8217;s MMA Show on ESPN, Weidman shared what he was told by the UFC with respect to his desired title shot. Apparently, the promotion wasn&#8217;t confident that Weidman&#8217;s injured hand would be ready in time to fight Whittaker after The Ultimate Fighter.<\/p>\n<p id=\"GZv1Xd\">\u201cThey were saying they couldn\u2019t depend on me with my hand. They were worried about my hand not being ready in time,\u201d Weidman said (transcribed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2018\/8\/1\/17640552\/ufc-chris-weidman-pissed-off-passed-over-ufc-title-shot-hand-injury-kelvin-gastelum-mma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMA Mania<\/a>). \u201cThey were initially saying they were going to (have me) fight at the end of the year show, and I was telling them I\u2019d definitely be ready. And they said they couldn\u2019t really justify putting money into the Ultimate Fighter show with the chance of me not being able to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While this is certainly an understandable worry from the UFC, Weidman says it still bothers him.
