{"id":281234,"date":"2018-07-21T14:09:43","date_gmt":"2018-07-21T21:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/?p=281234"},"modified":"2018-07-21T14:09:43","modified_gmt":"2018-07-21T21:09:43","slug":"conor-mcgregor-on-the-verge-of-striking-a-plea-deal-in-new-york-incident-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/conor-mcgregor\/conor-mcgregor-on-the-verge-of-striking-a-plea-deal-in-new-york-incident-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Conor McGregor on the verge of striking a plea deal in New York incident case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like things are about to be able to finally move forward in the fighting world for the UFC megastar, <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/fighter\/conor-mcgregor\/\">Conor McGregor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With his immediate career seemingly up in the air after the whole UFC 223 bus incident, McGregor is reportedly on the verge of some clarity.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2018\/07\/21\/conor-mcgregor-plea-deal-bargain-jail-deportation-ufc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TMZ Sports<\/a>,\u00a0the final stages have been reached in the negotiating of a plea deal for his felony mischief case.<\/p>\n<p>McGregor&#8217;s charges included that of one count of felony criminal mischief tagged along with three counts of misdemeanor assault.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors are agreeing to drop the felony to a misdemeanor. This is a very big deal for the Irishman as a felony regarding violence could result in deportation from the U.S permanently.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, McGregor was facing up to seven years behind bars if convicted, but the prosecutors are agreeing to probation, therefore,\u00a0keeping the former UFC champion out from behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>The plea deal has yet to reach finalization, but the negotiations are reportedly in the &#8220;fine points&#8221; stages. Assuming nothing crazy happens and this falls through, the deal is expected to\u00a0be finished and made final in the coming\u00a0days as McGregor is due in a Manhattan court on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Coming late next month, McGregor will have been out of the fight scene for a full year as last August was when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their cross-sport boxing match spectacle.<\/p>\n<p>As far as McGregor competing in MMA goes, we haven&#8217;t seen that since November 2016 when he won the UFC lightweight title by defeating Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205.<\/p>\n<p>The talk lately has been that McGregor is likely to return to the UFC and do so to challenge for Khabib Nurmagomedov&#8217;s lightweight crown sometime later this year.<\/p>\n<p>With this news, it makes that possibility all the more likely.<\/p>\n<p><em>This article first appeared on <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\">BJPenn.com<\/a> on 7\/21\/2018<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like things are about to be able to finally move forward in the fighting world for the UFC megastar, Conor McGregor.
