One of the most discussed decisions of the year took place at the UFC’s first visit to Liverpool, England<\/a> and many believe that the wrong man won<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fight in reference is the main event which pitted top welterweight strikers Darren Till against the two-time title challenger Stephen Thompson.<\/p>\n

Till would go on to defeat Thompson via unanimous decision in one of the closest chess match-type fights we’d ever seen.<\/p>\n

After the fight, Thompson spoke with BJPenn.com<\/a> where he discussed that he believes side-kicks to the knee should be illegal in MMA.<\/p>\n

Till recently responded to Thompson’s comments in an interview with\u00a0MTK Global<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw the interview he did. If he wants leg kicks banned, why don\u2019t we ban spinning head-kicks to the face while we\u2019re at it? I was not trying to hurt his knee. I was trying to deaden his leg to stop him [from] using it. That was my strategy.<\/em><\/p>\n

I know he\u2019s had surgery on his left knee and I was not trying to cause him another injury in that area but this is a fight and we\u2019re in the most brutal sport in the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

In my opinion, you can\u2019t really come out and say you want this thing banned or that thing banned.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Despite the added controversy on top of the decision with the kicking technique, Till continued on to state that he isn’t at all against rematching with Thompson.<\/p>\n

In fact, he’s just that much more confident now that he’s already fought him once.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf a rematch with Thompson is what the UFC want me to do, I\u2019ll do the rematch. If he wants another fight, it\u2019ll be\u00a0different this time. I\u2019ll be much stronger. If he wants it, he can have it.<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not one for turning down a fight \u2013 especially not a rematch.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
