Current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will be fighting for more than just the promotions heavyweight title when he squares off with Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 226 this July in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

\u201cDC\u201d has the opportunity to join a group of fellow octagon legends<\/a> in Randy Couture, BJ Penn<\/a>, Conor McGregor<\/a> and Georges St-Pierre<\/a> who are currently the only fighters to have ever captured UFC titles in two different weight classes.<\/p>\n

During Thursday’s UFC 226 media call<\/a>, “DC” was asked if he felt that he should be considered one of mixed martial arts greatest fighters of all time with a win over current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic next weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I am. I don\u2019t believe that anything else should be thought of. I should definitely be in the conversation.\u201d<\/em> Cormier stated.<\/p>\n

With a win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226<\/a>, Daniel Cormier would become the first fighter in UFC history to hold both the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles simultaneously.<\/p>\n

In fact, only one UFC fighter has ever accomplished holding belts in two different divisions simultaneously, that being Irish superstar Conor McGregor. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be mentioned among the greats. The Georges St-Pierre’s and the Demetrious Johnson’s, the guys that have done things the correct way over the course of their entire careers without that asterisk.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Daniel Cormier has made it clear that his time in mixed martial arts is coming close to an end. With that said, Cormier still eyes two future fights – one with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, the other a trilogy bout with bitter rival Jon “Bones” Jones.<\/p>\n
