Last weekend, Bellator touched down in Chicago, Illinois with the exciting Bellator 198 card. One of the most talked about features of the main card was the MMA debut of Dillon Danis, an accomplished jiu jitsu practitioner who has recently risen to prominence for his role in Conor McGregor<\/a>‘s camp. Danis would win this fight, which pitted him against 2-4 fighter Kyle Walker, with a slick, first-round toehold.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

While Danis looked solid in his MMA debut, many onlookers have been turned off by the way he seems to mimic McGregor’s shtick. You can file former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping into that group.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his ever-entertaining podcast, Believe You Me<\/a>, Bisping gave his take on Danis’s persona. Suffice it to say he’s not a big fan.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only is he Conor McGregor\u2019s jiu-jitsu coach, he\u2019s seeming to try to morph and copy McGregor\u2019s antics,” Bisping said (via MMAMania<\/a>). Certainly his clothing. Conor does wear some fucking really nice, cool shit and Dillon Danis is like the poor, second-hand, overwashed, hand-me-down version because his clothes are fucking terrible. But, he\u2019s trying to be Conor so hard, it\u2019s laughable. He even said, \u2018After this weekend, I will own Bellator.\u2019 That sounds vaguely like a line where Conor said, \u2018I will own boxing.\u2019”<\/p>\n

Needless to say, Danis’s behavior hasn’t gone over particularly well with Bisping. That said, the former middleweight champ believes Danis’s actions will ultimately get more people to tune into his fights \u2014 even if it’s just to see him lose. The young grappler probably knows this.<\/p>\n

“He probably knows that this kind of behavior, as it did with me, encourages more people to want to see you get knocked out than win,” Bisping said. “But at the end of the day, it doesn\u2019t matter. The bullshit that he\u2019s doing, the shit that he\u2019s spewing is working.\u201d<\/p>\n
