Justin Gaethje on loss to Dustin Poirier: “I will be known and remembered as one of the most entertaining fighters that ever did it!”<\/strong><\/p>\n

UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje suffered his second straight stoppage loss in the headliner of last night’s UFC on FOX 29 event in Glendale to Dustin Poirier.<\/p>\n

Gaethje and Poirier engaged in a back and forth “Fight of the year” candidate for the better part of sixteen minutes before “The Diamond” eventually put Justin away with punches early in round four.<\/p>\n

Despite suffering his second loss in a row, Gaethje was still all smiles at the UFC on FOX 29 post-fight press conference (via MMAJunkie<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s up guys? Why all the sad faces?\u201d<\/em> Gaethje asked reporters at last night’s post-fight press conference. \u201cI didn\u2019t get into this sport to win or lose. It\u2019s an entertainment factor for me. I will be known and remembered as one of the most entertaining fighters that ever did it. I\u2019m content with what just happened, as stupid and crazy as that sounds.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The former World Series of Fighting champion continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys, this is an unforgiving sport,\u201d<\/em> Gaethje stated. \u201cI don\u2019t recommend it to my enemy. But it\u2019s what I was born and bred to do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Gaethje, who unloaded a plethora of damaging kicks on Poirier’s lead leg during last night’s main event, has nothing but respect for “The Diamond” following their epic brawl<\/a> in Glendale.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have nothing but respect for him,\u201d<\/em> Gaethje said. \u201cHe\u2019s going to be hurting for a very long time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Gaethje finished the interview by stating that he has five fights left.<\/p>\n
