If things had gone according to plan, middleweight staple Uriah Hall would have battled the retiring Vitor Belfort in the co-main event of last weekend’s UFC St. Louis card. Unfortunately, Hall was hospitalized as a result of a botched weight cut, and forced out of this contest<\/a>\u00a0thereafter.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Hall’s weight cut went awry, UFC President Dana White went off on him<\/a>, suggesting he might be wise to migrate to the 205-pound light heavyweight division, where the cut would be less severe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I think [Hall] needs to think about is fight at 205,\u201d White said. \u201cFight at 205 or show up and do what you\u2019re supposed to do. There\u2019s ways to cut weight properly and safely. You need to start doing that. That\u2019s why we are encouraging everybody to come to the UFC Performance Institute. That\u2019s why all the guys down there do what they\u2019re supposed to do and do it the right way, cut weight safely. The guys who don\u2019t listen, this is what happens. And much like Kelvin Gastelum and the Johny Hendricks and the other people out there \u2013\u00a0if you can\u2019t make that weight, then fight at the higher weight division.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to BloodyElbow<\/a>, Hall’s coach\u00a0Clayton Hires discussed a possible move to 205, and interestingly, he thinks his fighter would dominate in this heavier division.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he would dominate there,\u201d Hires said about Hall\u2019s possible move up. \u201cThere\u2019s a couple guys you got to worry about. I think he\u2019d be a top five. It\u2019s something that we\u2019re discussing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hires also shed some light on Hall’s weigh-in debacle.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s fine. Mishap, but you know that\u2019s the trials and tribulations of the fight game. You\u2019ve gotta come back strong,\u201d Hires said. \u201cThings happen, you\u2019ve just gotta learn from them and grow. If you don\u2019t grow, it happens again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get past 30 [years old] and things start changing, the body changes. That\u2019s the way it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
