UFC officials hope to have middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre return to action at UFC 221 this February in Perth, Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, bottom line is that we want to have Robbie (Whittaker) fight in Perth,\u201d<\/em> David Shaw, UFC Vice President of international content said at the UFC Fight Night 121 post-fight press conference via Forbes<\/a>. \u201cThe stars are sort of aligning for that event, having a pay-per-view there. First time in Western Australia, which is meaningful to us. We want to blow it out of the water and make it a very significant event and make a real impact, not only for Western Australians but for Australian fans all over the country.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Obviously current UFC interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker would be happy with the potential booking, but will Georges St-Pierre be willing to make such a quick turnaround remains the question.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably going to come down to Georges,\u201d Shaw said. \u201cThree months for anybody is a quick turnaround, so if we can line up that fight, that\u2019d be amazing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The Canadian superstar, St-Pierre, returned from a four year hiatus earlier this month in the main event of UFC 217 in New York where he defeated Michael Bisping<\/a> to become the UFC middleweight champion.<\/p>\n

Following his third-round stoppage victory over “The Count”, UFC officials confirmed that St-Pierre’s next fight would be a title unification bout with Robert Whittaker.<\/p>\n

As for Whittaker, the New Zealand born fighter was last seen in action this past July where he defeated Yoel Romero via unanimous decision to become the promotions interim middleweight champion.<\/p>\n

UFC 221 takes place February 10 live from Perth Arena in Perth, Australia.<\/p>\n
