Darren Till is a big, big welterweight. That’s been amply evident every time the British striking specialist has stepped into the cage. His Saturday afternoon execution of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone<\/a>, who he seemed to cast a shadow over in the cage, was certainly no exception to the rule.<\/p>\n

While it has long been evident that Till is a big welterweight, he only recently revealed just how big he actually is when he steps into the cage. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, Till explained that, on Saturday, he was a hulking 200 pounds.<\/p>\n

“90 kilos,” Till said. “About 200 pounds.” <\/em><\/p>\n

“I ain’t no welterweight,” he continued. “I’m a light heavyweight in the welterweight division. It should be illegal, what I’m doing. The UFC should ban it but they can’t because I do it naturally and I do it professionally, and no one can do a fucking thing about it.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So how does a 200 primate get down to the welterweight division’s 171-pound limit? Quite easily, apparently.<\/p>\n

“Well I had a glass a coke before, so what do you think? It was easy,” he said. “The week of the fight, Ariel, I see every other fighter moping about, doing 20 minutes on the treadmill and jumping off, saying it’s because they’re tired. The week of the fight, Ariel, I was still training three hours a day. I was training in the morning, I was training at night, I was cutting that weight. My coach is the best coach in the world. He’s so scientific. He keeps me dry. That’s how I made the weight. I didn’t have to sauna this time.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
