Over the weekend at UFC 216, Tony Ferguson won the UFC interim lightweight championship title by submitting Kevin Lee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, “El Cucuy” is ready to unify the belts with the undisputed UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor<\/a> and according to Ferguson, the time is ticking for “The Notorious”<\/p>\n

\"Tony<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat (McGregor) needs to do is defend or vacate,\u201d Ferguson said recently on MMAjunkie Radio (transcribed by John Morgan for MMA Junkie<\/a>). \u201cThat dude\u2019s got like less than a month. I mean compared to what UFC rules state, he\u2019s got a year to start defending his belt. I\u2019m more than ready for December. He said he wants to fight in 2017. I think the fans deserve it. I think I deserve it.”<\/p>\n

Conor McGregor last fought in the Octagon last year on November 12 at UFC 205 where he became the first fighter in history to simultaneously hold two UFC division titles. With the one year mark approaching since winning the UFC lightweight tile, it will be interesting to see how things play out as Ferguson makes the most sense as an opponent<\/a> holding the interim title.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat sounds better than 10 consecutive? Eleven, and it\u2019s got Conor\u2019s name written all over that mother(expletive),” added Ferguson. “You guys heard my post-speech<\/a>. There\u2019s nowhere for him to run, man. He\u2019s got me to deal with, and I\u2019m going to expose that dude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferguson stated that it isn’t about the money in fighting McGregor but more a pride fight.<\/p>\n

\"ufc<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he wants that grubby little belt to be in my hands because I\u2019ll enjoy it, and I will defend it. That dude hasn\u2019t defended that belt one time \u2013 not one time. I will probably defend my interim belt more times than that dude would ever defend that belt.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that said, Tony Ferguson sent another message directly to “The Notorious” and gave him two options.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo Conor, you need to either (expletive) defend or vacate. You need to get your (expletive) together and come fight me, straight up.\u201d<\/p>\n
