Invicta Fighting Championship, an established North American MMA promotion that specializes exclusively in women’s MMA, has announced a new, exclusive talent-sharing partnership with long-standing Japanese promotion Pancrase. This means that, going forward, the two exciting organizations will swap fighters on a regular basis, affording the members of their rosters more opportunities to compete.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be able to partner with Pancrase, one of MMA\u2019s most storied promotions,\u201d said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp in an official statement (via Sherdog.com<\/a>). \u201cIn addition to all past and present ‘Kings and Queens of Pancrase,\u2019 pioneers and contemporary stars alike have passed through the Pancrase organization at one time or another.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our\u00a0talent-sharing agreement, we hope to be able to capitalize on the wealth of female fighters being developed by both Invicta and Pancrase in a mutually beneficial way,\u201d Knapp added.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As\u00a0Pancrase President Masakazu Sakai points out, this will also be present an opportunity for Invicta’s Japanese stars to fight on home turf more easily.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis might open the door for fans in Japan to see Japanese fighters under the Invicta contract, such as Mizuki and\u00a0Takayo Hashi\u00a0to fight in Japan as well,\u201d Sakai said. \u201cBoth Invicta FC and Pancrase are currently on UFC Fight Pass and by exchanging fighters we are looking to increase opportunities for fighters to compete more often.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As Sakai points out, both Invicta and Pancrase air on UFC Fight Pass, the official streaming service of the UFC.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Pancrase has been the home of notable fighters like Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Josh Barnett, Chael Sonnen, Bas Rutten,\u00a0Nate Marquardt, Jose Aldo, Akihiro Gono, Paul Daley, Carlos Condit, Chris Lytle, Genki Sudo and Evan Tanner. Invicta, meanwhile, has promoted stars like Cris “Cyborg” Justino, Claudia Gadelha, Michelle Waterson, Megan Anderson, Rose Namajunas, Jessica Penne, Carla Esparza, Paige VanZant and others.<\/p>\n
