If Werdum wins this fight, he feels he deserves a shot at reigning UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, the man he relinquished the divisional crown to back in 2016.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI deserve (a title shot),\u201d Werdum said at Wednesday&#8217;s UFC 216 media day (via <a href=\"http:\/\/mmajunkie.com\/2017\/10\/ufc-216-fabricio-werdum-title-shot-win-derrick-lewis-stipe-miocic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMAJunkie<\/a>). \u201cStipe (hasn\u2019t fought) for a long time. I don\u2019t know how long, but he don\u2019t fight for a long time. I think all three. Me, [Alistair] <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/fight-slated-ufc-218-detroit-francis-ngannou-alvarez-gaethje-overeem-cejudo\/\">Overeem and Francis<\/a> [Ngannou] can go for the title shot. I think maybe, maybe, if Derrick Lewis beats me (he can get one). But he doesn\u2019t deserve it at this moment to go for the title shot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think a good fight, a good submission, a good knockout, fans will say, \u2018Werdum, you\u2019re the next one.\u2019 \u2026 I believe I should go for the title shot again.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Werdum, of course, is riding a close decision loss to Overeem, who claims he has been <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/alistair-overeem\/alistair-overeem-reveals-huge-stakes-fight-francis-ngannou\/\">promised a title shot<\/a> with a win over Francis Ngannou at UFC 218.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cYes,\u201d the hulking Dutchman said on The MMA Hour, when asked if he\u2019d been guaranteed a title shot by the UFC.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;(It\u2019s) logical thinking,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m ranked No. 1 now, so the way (I see it), I would be eligible to fight for the belt now, but I also stated that in previous interviews if I need to run through somebody else before, then we\u2019re gonna do that. That is what it is right now. Again, I\u2019m a fighter, I like to be active. To me, that is the best. Some fighters, they are not fighting for a year or a year and a half.
