Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson are set to headline UFC 216<\/a> as the two will fight for the UFC interim lightweight title. There is also another title fight on the card as Demetrious Johnson will look to set a UFC record and surpass Anderson Silva for the most consecutive UFC title defenses, taking on Ray Borg in the co-main event.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Johnson and Borg were set to headline UFC 215 but the bout was canceled<\/a> just days before the fight date with Borg being sick and deemed unfit to compete by doctors.<\/p>\n

With the potentially historic UFC title fight with Johnson and Borg being the co-main event, Kevin Lee was asked by Bloody Elbow<\/a> what his thoughts were on being in the main event over the number 1 UFC ranked pound-for-pound fighter.<\/p>\n

\"ufc<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s the way it should be. The UFC knows that… Look, Demetrious if anything, Demetrious should be thanking me. He\u2019s getting pay-per-view points for the first time in his career, and it\u2019s going to be because of me. So, if anything, I\u2019m looking for a lil\u2019 Christmas gift from Demetrious… I think the demand is definitely out here, more for this fight, than especially Demetrious vs. Ray Borg. I mean come on. Demetrious has to give it up to me. I\u2019m putting money in his pocket; how can he be upset? When we do the press conference, and I\u2019m sitting right next to him, I\u2019ll let him know.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his own fight against Ferguson, Lee says he is eager to show fans what he has to bring to the Octagon.<\/p>\n

\"Tony<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited for it. The one thing about that Chiesa fight, I was upset that I didn\u2019t get to show more. It wasn\u2019t even my gameplan to take him down really. I kind of wanted to show a little bit more to the fans, and show a little more to the people. I think people are excited to see more out of me, and I\u2019m excited to show it to them. Tony, he can take a shot. He can keep moving. He even scrambles well on the ground. I feel like we will have a lot of different exchanges, a lot of momentum. I\u2019m excited for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
