Brendan Schaub has never been afraid to heap praise on UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor<\/a>. On Saturday’s special UFC Rotterdam<\/a> Fight Companion edition of The Joe Rogan experience<\/a>, Schaub did just that once more, explaining the he believes McGregor will have an incredible amount of sway in future negotiations with new UFC owners WME-IMG.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cConor has changed the game for the better, especially if you\u2019re the fighter,\u201d Schaub told Joe Rogan (h\/t MMAFighting.com<\/a>). \u201cWith WME, he\u2019s steering the ship. Think about it, he made over – the numbers have come out and they\u2019re saying it\u2019s gonna be the biggest pay-per-view of all time – so he made $100 million, right? So you\u2019re telling me if you\u2019re Conor, and you\u2019re part of his team you\u2019re gonna go, \u2018Hey, fight Nate Diaz<\/a> for $5-10 million and also, we need you to wear this Reebok and they\u2019re gonna pay you $100,000 a year.\u2019 You think Conor\u2019s gonna [do that]? You\u2019re crazy.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re playing a different game now. You\u2019re talking about the biggest athlete in combat sports. You\u2019re not getting him for the $200,000 you were paying him a year. He can go, \u2018Listen, I\u2019m down to wear Reebok but it\u2019s a different animal now.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Schaub continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cConor\u2019s changing the dynamics for everyone because now, when you want him to fight again, you can\u2019t have him agree to those old terms. He\u2019s a smart guy and [if] he learned anything from Floyd, [Mayweather], \u00a0you know when you fight Floyd you\u2019re fighting a different animal…”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThat contract doesn\u2019t matter if it\u2019s [over] or not. The game has changed. There\u2019s no way you keep going with [McGregor’s] current contract.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Schaub then made a surprising prediction for McGregor’s next fight, suggesting the Irishman might fight under his own banner, McGregor Sports and Entertainment, and battle Paulie Malignaggi<\/a> in Dublin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019m Conor and I have McGregor promotions . . . I\u2019m just gonna go to Dublin and me and Paulie are gonna sell this 70,000 stadium out and I\u2019m just gonna take all of it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
