Last night, the UFC touched down in sun-soaked Mexico City, Mexico, with an exciting night of fights. In the main event, we were treated to a clash of young flyweight contenders, as Duke Roufus trained Sergio Pettis took on Mexico’s own Brandon Moreno.\u00a0Though both fighters are very young \u2013 both 23 years old \u2013 this looked like it could be a flyweight number one contender fight, with the winner earning a shot at incredibly dominant champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.<\/p>\n

In the end, it was Pettis that earned the win, braving some early adversity to recapture the momentum, and ultimately a unanimous decision win<\/a>. Surprisingly, however, his immediate focus is not on a flyweight title shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to fight again,\u201d Pettis said when asked if he’d like to wait for a shot at the winner of Mighty Mouse’s upcoming scrap with Ray Borg (h\/t MMAJunkie.com<\/a>). He then explained that he’d instead like to fight former flyweight title challenger and Olympic wrestler Henry Cejudo.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI feel like me and Cejudo should go at it again.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pettis and Cejudo were scheduled to do battle at UFC 211 back in May, but Cejudo was forced out of the fight just days ahead of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe kind of pulled out two days before, and I want to still touch that face,\u201d Pettis said.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With his win over Moreno, Pettis a strong, four-fight win-streak composed of unanimous decision wins over former title challenger Chris Cariaso, Chris Kelades, former title challenger John Moraga, and now the red-hot Moreno.<\/p>\n

Mighty Mouse, meanwhile, recently picked up his 10th-straight flyweight title defense, tying Anderson Silva’s record for the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history. If he defeats Borg to make it 11-straight defenses, he’ll be the sole owner of that record. Mighty Mouse’s streak includes wins over Ian McCall, Joseph Benavidez (twice), John Dodson (twice), John Moraga, Ali Bagautinov, Chris Cariaso, Kyoji Horiguchi, Henry Cejudo, Tim Elliot and Wilson Reis. He’s 26-2-1 overall, and widely considered the top pound-for-pound fighter on earth.<\/p>\n
