On July 29, in the first of the three title fights on the stacked UFC 214 bill, destructive featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino will collide with reigning Invicta bantamweight queen Tonya Evinger for the vacant UFC women’s featherweight title. While a Cyborg victory is certainly not a sure thing, many fans expect her to win this fight and kickstart her long-awaited reign as UFC featherweight queen.<\/p>\n

The UFC women’s featherweight division division, of course, is extremely thin on talent. As such, it’s hard to imagine who might be next for the winner of Cyborg and Evinger. Yet while there aren’t a ton of interesting options to pick from, Cyborg does have one interesting idea: former UFC women’s bantamweight queen Holly Holm.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian slugger weighed in on a prospective battle with Holm on a recent episode of The MMA Hour (h\/t MMAFighting.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

“I think the next fight could be with her,\u201d she said, assuring host Ariel Helwani that she had \u201calready accepted\u201d fight with Holm on three different occasions:\u00a0UFC 184,\u00a0UFC 198, and UFC Fight Night 95.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cyborg then discusses the appeal of the fight, referencing Holm’s lone fight at featherweight (a loss to Germaine de Randamie in the division’s inaugural title fight), and her recent knockout defeat of Bethe Correia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I think (it\u2019s a) great fight for all the fans,\u201d she said. \u201cShe already fought at 145 (pounds) with (Germaine) de Randamie and people say that she win, she lost. Let’s make the fight with me for the belt. She just defeated\u00a0Bethe Correia, I think she\u2019s the big name for the next fight. She’s a great fighter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cyborg has gone 2-0 in the UFC, thrashing Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg to TKO victories in 140-pound catchweight fights. Holm, meanwhile, corrected a three-fight losing streak with her thunderous, head-kick knockout of Correia.<\/p>\n
