Perhaps the biggest story to emerge from this years UFC athletes retreat stemmed from a heated blowout between UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino and UFC strawweight Angela Magana. This confrontation was sparked by some nasty comments Magana made about Cyborg online, and culminated with Cyborg blasting Magana with a punch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, we’ve heard many witnesses give their take on what happened. The latest to do so was former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who painted perhaps the best picture yet<\/a> on the latest edition of The MMA Hour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhen we got off the bus, that girl, Magana, was right in front of me,\u201d\u00a0Weidman said (h\/t MMAFighting.com<\/a>). \u201cAs I come off the bus, all I see is Cyborg run up to Magana\u2019s face and they\u2019re having words. I had no idea what was going on. I didn\u2019t know if there was any beef. \u2026 I don\u2019t follow (Magana) on Twitter so I didn\u2019t realize what she was saying.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBasically, Cyborg was going nuts on her, like all the words you can think of. She was screaming \u2018Who the f**k do you think you are?\u2019 and talking like this and blah, blah, blah.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cMagana was kind of quiet and shocked. She was kind of smiling, like a nervous smile. I was thinking, \u2018Oh my God\u2019 because she\u2019s way smaller than Cyborg.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAll of sudden (Magana) realizes what\u2019s going on around her,\u201d Weidman said. \u201cShe sees that there are a lot of people around and she sees cameras coming out. She grew some balls and all of sudden she starts cursing back at Cyborg. I was thinking, \u2018That\u2019s not smart.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Weidman then recalled his brief effort to diffuse the situation.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAs soon as I saw (Magana) cursing back at Cyborg, I realize there is no one in between them and that something is going to go down,\u201d Weidman said. \u201cI started trying to break it up.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI came in like, \u2018C\u2019mon, guys, let\u2019s calm it down,\u2019 and as soon (as I did that) \u2018Cyborg\u2019 just stops screaming at Magana, looks at me and says, \u2018Don\u2019t touch me.\u2019”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Alright, I\u2019m good!\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Apparently, Cyborg’s headline-generating punch occurred right after Weidman stepped away.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cSo I backed up and then within a second (Cyborg) takes her hand and cracks Magana,\u201d Weidman said. \u201cMagana did a little shaky leg thing and right away she got teary-eyed. At least from what I heard, right away she started to say, \u2018I\u2019m calling the cops\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThat was the first thing and then Cyborg just jetted out.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea what was going on. I was just thinking, \u2018I can\u2019t believe she just beat the s**t out of this little girl.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what was going through my head then, but when I saw some of the stuff she was saying to Cyborg I could understand. I don\u2019t know why she would be saying stuff like that to Cyborg, especially if you know you could be seeing her.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone was talking s**t like that about me, I\u2019d probably have something to say to them the next time I see them and we could probably be fighting. I do see where Cyborg went with that.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, in the world we live in today there are cops and lawsuits, so you can\u2019t just punch people. You have to find other ways to resolve your issues.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Chris Weidman will next step into the cage on July 22, when he will take on Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of UFC on Fox 25.<\/p>\n
