There have been some outspoken members from the martial arts community that have laughed at the potential superfight<\/a> between boxing’s 49-0 Floyd Mayweather and MMA’s 21-3 Conor McGregor<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Boxing legend turned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya has been one that went as far as to ask fans to not buy into the “circus”<\/a> matchup, even after campaigning<\/a> for a McGregor vs. Golden Boy Promotions boxer Canelo Alvarez.<\/p>\n

Former WBO middleweight and super middleweight champion Steve Collins believes that those hating on the fight are just jealous that they aren’t in the recipe for the money-making spectacle.<\/p>\n

\"Mayweather<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThey should all just shut their mouths and concentrate on their own careers,\u201d Collins said to MMA Junkie<\/a>. \u201cAll of these boxers are just jealous because Conor and Mayweather are going to make a fortune<\/a>. Between the two of them, they\u2019re creating interest that is unprecedented.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guys who are calling this a mockery are just upset because they aren\u2019t in the headlines. If they were in the middle of this and they were fighting McGregor, they wouldn\u2019t be saying any of this. It\u2019s just jealousy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins, who also hails from Ireland is backing his Irish UFC champion and believes that he has all the tools to not just compete with Mayweather, but thinks he can serve him his first loss as well.<\/p>\n

\"ufc<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe Mayweather has the same feeling as me, and maybe that\u2019s why the fight has happened sooner, but I can see how Conor can beat Mayweather with the right coaching,\u201d he said. \u201cI could tell you how he could beat Mayweather. I can see him doing it. A victory for Conor is something that can definitely happen, and I think he will shock the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has the tools and the ability. If he prepares the right way, he won\u2019t just beat Mayweather \u2013 he\u2019ll stop him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins said that he and his brother Pascal, who runs the Celtic Warrior boxing gym where McGregor trained at for some time early on his career, have talked about the game plan to beat Mayweather. With a relationship with McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh, Collins said that he would be more than happy to work with Team McGregor for the fight camp.<\/p>\n
