The next crack at UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson seems like it will go to one of two men. The first of these two men is flyweight contender Ray Borg. The other is former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw<\/a>, who has said repeatedly that he’s willing to undertake the cut to flyweight to take on the dominant Mighty Mouse.<\/p>\n

According to Borg, however, Dillashaw’s winning the flyweight title could be disastrous for the division<\/a>. The flyweight contender worries that the bantamweight champ may win gold from Mighty Mouse, then return to bantamweight, effectively holding the flyweight title hostage as he does.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhat frustrates me is that if T.J. wins that belt, it\u2019s going to be the same situation as Conor [McGregor] at 145 and 155,” Borg said on the MMA Circus Podcast<\/a>. “That belt\u2019s going to be held hostage. He\u2019s not gonna be able to make 125 multiple times to defend it. I\u2019m sure. So if he wins it at 125, he wants to do it just to be another champ. And then he moves up to 135, and then what does that do to the 125-pound division? A vacant belt that everyone\u2019s gotta fight for again?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Luckily for Borg, Mighty Mouse doesn’t seem to interested in a fight with Dillashaw \u2013 though he is suspicious that this is a negotiation tactic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was a tactic towards the UFC,\u201d Borg said. \u201cIf he does fight Dillashaw, he doesn\u2019t want to make the same money he\u2019s making now. I feel like he would settle and make the same money \u2014 maybe a little bit more \u2014 versus me, but because T.J.\u2019s already a star and [the UFC is] pushing [the Dillashaw fight] on him so bad, I think it was more of a tactic to be like, \u2018Alright, I\u2019m fighting Ray Borg, not T.J.\u2019 And then the UFC\u2019s gonna wanna make it happen, so they\u2019re gonna be like, \u2018Well, what\u2019s it gonna take, DJ?\u2019 And they\u2019re gonna throw him a little more cash, and that\u2019s what he wants.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
