On the latest edition of The MMA Hour, a disgruntled Luke Rockhold went off on the UFC<\/a> for the way it’s been handling matchmaking in the middleweight division. His main gripe, of course, stemmed from the fact that the next shot at Michael Bisping’s middleweight title was expected to go to former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre \u2013 a man who is returning from a multi-year hiatus, and one who has\u00a0competed at middleweight before. To make matters worse, this fight wasn’t expected to occur until the fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur division is hot right now, they\u2019ve got good matchups, but they\u2019re just not putting the champion to work,\u201d Rockhold said. \u201cIt\u2019s ridiculous. Are they really going to wait until October to make the Georges St-Pierre fight?\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe company is kind of losing it these days,\u201d he continued. \u201cI don\u2019t know what happened to the old company where the best fought the best. That\u2019s what built this company, now it\u2019s just a spectator sport. They\u2019re just putting freak shows together.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Luckily for Rockhold and his fellow Bisping vs. St-Pierre critics, however, Dana White recently announced that the promotion has axed these plans, and that the next title shot will now go to the true number one contender Yoel Romero<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made this [St-Pierre] fight, we did a press conference,” White told Fox Sports Australia. “The thing was supposed to happen in July. Michael Bisping is going to have to defend his title now. We\u2019re not waiting for [St-Pierre]. [Romero] doesn\u2019t need to voice his opinion on why he needs a title shot. He definitely deserves a title shot. He\u2019s next in line, he\u2019s the No.1 ranked guy in the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This news that the next middleweight title shot will go to the division’s true number one contender unsurprisingly went over very well with the frustrated Rockhold. See his reaction to this return to normalcy below:<\/p>\n
