Chris Taylor<\/a> spoke with \u201cThe Soldier of God\u201d on today\u2019s episode of Rapid Fire, this to discuss Georges St-Pierre\u2019s recent announcement and how it has affected his future plans.<\/p>\n\u201cI am doing good my friend.\u201d <\/em>Romero told Taylor.<\/p>\nTaylor asked Romero what he thought of St-Pierre\u2019s recent announcement.
\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t think that is a good thing. Because you know, they (Bisping and St-Pierre) already did a faceoff. They have already signed to fight. This isn\u2019t boxing. Once you do the faceoff, you should not be able to postpone the fight, especially not for a number of months.”<\/em><\/p>\nHe continued:<\/p>\n
\u201cThey said that the fight (Bisping vs. St-Pierre) would be ready by June or July, with a maximum timeframe of August. That is what Bisping came out saying, that the fight would be programmed to go down in July. But now everything is moving in St-Pierre\u2019s timeframe, and all this is doing is prolonging my fight and holding the division back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nTaylor asked Romero if he still plans on waiting for the winner of St-Pierre vs. Bisping, this after learning that the Bisping vs. GSP fight will likely not take place until November.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as I am concerned, I have had to wait for every good thing that has come my way. Everything has always been a waiting game for me so I know how to wait.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019m not a company. I am not the whole division. I am just the number one contender in the division. And this proposed fight has the whole division on hold. It has stopped the division from flowing and has stopped the correct fights from happening and taking place. I really hope that St-Pierre doesn\u2019t prolong this much longer.”<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cI take this almost as if I am navigating in the ocean. You know, I am like a fisherman. I can navigate on any type of oceanic setting.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nAlthough Yoel Romero is willing to wait if need be, he is also eager for a return to action. \u201cThe Soldier of God\u201d told Taylor that an interim title fight or a properly negotiated fight could have him back in the octagon soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll tell you what Chris. I can wait. I know how to wait. But I want to fight, and I want to fight for the title. Or, if the negotiations come correct, you know then I am willing to fight also. But it has to be the correct negotiations or a title fight at this point.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cEverything is according to the position I am in now. Everything is just a little more complicated due to the position I am in as the number one contender.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nTaylor asked Romero which fellow middleweight he believes should be involved in a proposed interim title fight, suggesting surging division contenders Gegard Mousasi and Robert Whittaker as possible opponents.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve said it before and I will say it again. I do not care who they put in front of me. I don\u2019t care if it is Mousasi, Whittaker or (Anderson) Silva. I will fight anyone. But as long as they understand my position. I am the number one contender. I have earned this spot. I need to fight for a title next! Whoever comes next, let them come. I am ready to go. It is the UFC\u2019s job to pick the man they will put before me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nHe continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know sometimes I ask myself \u2018Why do these things happen to me?\u2019\u201d Romero said. \u201cWhy do I always have to go through such things and tribulations? But you know, God always has a plan. In the middle of the storm you always see that sun, that ray of light come through. So right now I am just patiently waiting for that ray of light to come through.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nYoel finished by stating the following.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I will fight for an interim title against any opponent that the UFC deems deserving. If that doesn\u2019t happen, then I will just wait for the winner of Georges St-Pierre vs. Michael Bisping.
