Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is 100% certain that a boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo Mayweather and McGregor is going to happen. 100 percent. That\u2019s a fact,\u201d Weidman told Mike ‘Gunz’ Gunzelman in a recent interview <\/a>(as transcribed by MMAMania<\/a>. \u201cI was just like everybody else. I thought it was a joke of a fight. Obviously McGregor has no chance in that fight. But everyone\u2019s still going to pay to watch it because it\u2019s Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is going to talk. He\u2019s going to say things to Floyd Mayweather that no one has ever said to him before. He\u2019s going to have Floyd Mayweather\u2019s head spinning. It\u2019s going to be insane. It\u2019s going to be an amazing event.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

While most fans and analysts are not giving Conor McGregor a snowballs chance in hell of defeating Floyd Mayweather in the proposed boxing match, Chris Weidman believes that the Irishman’s size could go a long way in making the fight competitive.<\/p>\n

\u201cMayweather is going to be such a small man next to Conor,\u201d Weidman continued. \u201cThis guy is a giant. You have to realize that Conor McGregor was the biggest 145-pound fighter the UFC has ever had. He cut so much weight to make 145 pounds. He\u2019s going to be so big and so heavy. He\u2019s going to be so much longer and taller than Floyd Mayweather. His head is going to be so much bigger. It\u2019s just two completely different animals.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Chris Weidman will return to the octagon in the co-main event of next weekend’s UFC 210 pay-per-view fight card in Buffalo, New York against surging division contender Gegard Mousasi.<\/p>\n

Weidman finds himself in desperate need of a win after suffering back-to-back knockout losses in his most recent octagon appearances against Luke Rockhold and most recently Yoel Romero.<\/p>\n
