UFC lightweight veteran Jim Miller went on a bit of a tear in the UFC’s lightweight division over the course of 2016<\/a>, bouncing back from back to back losses to go on a 3-fight win streak.<\/p>\n

At UFC 200, Miller began his win streak when he picked up a 1st round TKO win over fellow MMA veteran Takanori Gomi<\/a>. Just one month later, Miller returned to the Octagon to fight exciting lightweight standout Joe Lauzon in a highly anticipated scrap. Ultimately, after three hard fought rounds, Miller was awarded the split decision win. Most recently, Miller stepped into the Octagon with Thiago Alves at UFC 205 for a highly anticipated showdown, which he won via unanimous decision.<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, ahead of his UFC 208 scrap with Dustin Poirier this weekend, Miller has his sights set on an eventual showdown with Conor McGregor. He spoke to MMAJunkie<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal has always been to fight the best and dominate them and beat them up, and there\u2019s no better way to fight the best than to be the reigning champ,\u201d Miller said. \u201cI would love the opportunity to fight McGregor. Absolutely love it. \u2026 I know that I match up really well against him. The thing is, none of those other things are guarantees. There\u2019s no guarantees of how much money I\u2019d make fighting him or anything like that. I was 9-1 in this promotion and if I went 10-1 there still wasn\u2019t a guarantee I was getting a title shot. It\u2019s just the opportunity to fight him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I\u2019m a couple fights away from that and I\u2019m not the type that\u2019s going to sit here and talk about things that are going to happen in early 2018. I\u2019ve got a fight to prepare for on Saturday night.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He of course has a tough test in front of him in Dustin Poirier, who is 4-1 since returning to lightweight in 2015.<\/p>\n
