With Conor McGregor<\/a> recently being just the third fighter in history to win titles in two separate UFC weight classes behind Randy Couture and BJ Penn<\/a>, “The Notorious” was the first fighter to be a concurrent two-weight UFC champion. Although his time as the double champ was short lived with his deal in place with Dana White on relinquishing a UFC title<\/a>, another legendary fighter is looking to add himself to the list of two-weight UFC world champions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do want to challenge for the heavyweight title, but I\u2019m waiting for the perfect opponent,\u201d said former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones<\/a> speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast<\/a> (transcribed by MMA Junkie<\/a>). \u201cI\u2019ve beaten up a lot of heavyweights, man. Only people who train at (Jackson-Wink MMA) have seen that. I\u2019ve picked up a lot of heavyweights. I\u2019ve slammed a lot of heavyweights.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that I\u2019m capable. I just want to make sure I compete against the right stylistic matchup for me when I go to heavyweight and challenge for that title.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"ufc<\/a><\/p>\n

Jones said that he monitors his weight as his fights approach to make his cut down to the light heavyweight limit during fight week. With making sure his weight is where it needs to be at, Jones says that he actually cuts down just a few pounds for the official weigh in.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Fighting at 205 pounds) \u2013 I get myself down to about 220 on fight week,\u201d Jones said. \u201cI get myself down to about 220 during fight week. Then I make sure the day of weigh-ins I cut about five pounds. It\u2019s nothing. I\u2019ve been doing it for so long now, and I know it\u2019s my job to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c(At heavyweight) I\u2019ll fight right around 230. I\u2019ll try to eat a lot and make sure my endurance and speed is where it needs to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"UFC<\/a><\/p>\n

Jon Jones is currently suspended for testing positive for the banned substances clomiphene and letrozole, which Jones stated was from a tainted sexual performance pill<\/a>. Jones will be eligible to fight in the UFC again in July of 2017.<\/p>\n
