The latest example of\u00a0Conor McGregor’s transcendent superstardom<\/a> occurred this weekend, when he was impersonated in a skit on an episode of Saturday Night Live.<\/p>\n

This skit, which saw Alex Moffat make a rather abysmal attempt at portraying McGregor, also featured WWE star John Cena, who played the role of the\u00a0New England Patriots\u2019 Rob Gronkowski, and Kenan Thompson, who played NBA legend Charles Barkley.<\/p>\n

This skit, which was titled “Where’d my Money Go” poked fun at McGregor and Gronkowski for their frivolous spending and lavish lifestyles.<\/p>\n

Highlights of Moffat’s portrayal of McGregor included a somewhat off-color joke about the Irish Republican Army (IRA), and a factual error stating that McGregor lost his last fight in Las Vegas. To remind, his last fight in Vegas saw him rematch Nate Diaz \u2013 a fight he won by majority decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McGregor’s most recent fight, of course, occurred in New York City, where he knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205<\/a>. With this win, McGregor would win the UFC lightweight title. Because he still owned the featherweight title that he won from Jose Aldo last year<\/a>, this made him the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes concurrently.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for McGregor, this reign as two-division champion didn’t last long. Shortly after his title-winning defeat of Alvarez, the UFC stripped him of his long undefended featherweight title. At the same time, they promoted Aldo from interim featherweight champion to undisputed champion. Though McGregor clearly still considers himself a two-division champion<\/a>, the featherweight division is undeniably moving on without him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the moment, McGregor is enjoying a hiatus from the sport. It’s hard to say who will welcome him back from this break, though Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Jose Aldo are all viable options.<\/p>\n
