UFC President Dana White apparently has changed his mind on a UFC women’s 145-pound featherweight division.<\/p>\n

Back in September, White was not at all interested in creating a women’s featherweight division in the UFC.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, there aren\u2019t enough 145-pound female fighters to start a 145-pound division,”<\/em> White said on the UFC unfiltered podcast<\/a>. “There just isn\u2019t. Cyborg is this one girl that\u2019s floating out there who has that type of star power.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, just a little over two months have passed and a lot has changed as far as White’s attitude towards a UFC women’s featherweight division.<\/p>\n

On a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast, White revealed that he offered Cris Cyborg two opportunities to fight for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title.<\/p>\n

“She was offered two fights at 145-pounds<\/a>,”<\/em> White said of Cyborg on a recent interview with FOX Sports. “She turned them both down. The first fight she said she only had eight weeks and that wasn’t enough time to make 145-pounds and then she gave no reason for the second time. But the answer is yes. We’re going to make a 145-pound division whether it’s with Cyborg or not.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Cyborg told<\/a> MMA Fighting<\/a> that her body is still recovering from her last UFC fight, which she cut down to 140 pounds and says she almost died while cutting 24 pounds in one week.<\/p>\n

“I got a call from the UFC offering me another catchweight fight, and I said I would not fight at this weight anymore,”<\/em> said Cyborg. “I needed a break to get my health back to normal because my body was weak, I was anemic.<\/em><\/p>\n

“After that, they invited me to fight again, but this time at my weight and for the belt, but with 10 weeks\u2019 notice. Knowing that I was recovering, like I said, I told them I can fight anyone in February, but I need to take care of my body, and no mention of the fact that I\u2019m dealing with severe depression and can\u2019t have another brutal weight cut like before. This decision is more important than the belt or the division, I\u2019m thinking about my health.”<\/em><\/p>\n
