There have been quite a few arguments on the outcome of the rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor<\/a>, which took place at UFC 202 in August.<\/p>\n

“The Notorious” was given a majority decision<\/a> after an exhilarating five rounds of back and forth competition.<\/p>\n

One man who witnessed the fight first hand was Diaz’s boxing coach, Richard Perez. Perez was a guest on Episode 5 of BJPenn.com Radio<\/a> on Wednesday and spoke with our host “Kinch” on how he saw the rematch.<\/p>\n

“Well, number one, McGregor sure he won the first round you know cause Nathan was hurt,”<\/em> Perez stated. “He was hurt and wasn’t trying to move around too much, he had hurt ribs and hurt his knee in training camp and so he didn’t train three weeks for the fight. But, he won the first round.<\/em><\/p>\n

“What upset me is they allowed McGregor to run,”<\/em> Perez said. “He was literally trying to get away from him. He didn’t want any and Nathan was not real top shape anymore because he didn’t train but he was more aggresive, he threw more punches. Yeah, first round McGregor threw solid, good shots but after that I thought Nathan was throwing more combinations, more busier, trying to make the fight. But, McGregor was just hitting, trying to run and trying to get away from him so that’s why I thought that Nathan won the fight. I thought he won 2, 4, and 5.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\"UFC<\/a><\/p>\n

As far as a trilogy fight goes, Perez says if the new owners of the UFC<\/a> want to make money, the third bout between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz is the fight they should put together.<\/p>\n

“That should be number one right now,”<\/em> Perez said of the trilogy fight. “If I was the owners and just bought the company and I see that Nathan and McGregor made a lot of money, I would go for that again. They just bought the place so they’re trying to make money. That’s the most money right now that’s happening than any other fight. Even though McGregor is fighting Eddie Alvarez, look how many title bouts are going that day. Look how many fighters they gotta try to get up there to pay for this, to make money on it.”<\/em><\/p>\n
