Earlier this year, in the main event of UFC 203, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defended his title with a first-round smashing of Alistair Overeem<\/a>. The champ earned this win in front of thousands of screaming fans in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.<\/p>\n

With this unforgettable win in the books, Miocic is now taking some well-deserved time off<\/a>. While the champ enjoys this bit of R&R, the division he rules is trundling on.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the biggest heavyweight bout on the horizon is a rematch between former champions Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum<\/a>. The two first met back in mid-2015, on a night that would mark the end of Velasquez’s reign, and the beginning of Werdum’s. Their second meeting will occur on the main card of UFC 207 on December 30.<\/p>\n

In advance of this fight, Miocic sees the winner as a pretty obvious next opponent.<\/p>\n

“Obviously Cain and Werdum have their fight coming up so whoever the UFC wants me to fight I’ll fight,” the champ recently told FloCombat.com.<\/a> “I matchup well with everyone. I have the best coach in the world and I’m ready to go.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As far as who that winner is, Miocic admitted he’s not sure.<\/p>\n

“I’m not great at picking fights.\u00a0Cain looked great in his last fight [against Travis Browne]…super tough and his usual self. Werdum is Werdum. He’s one of the best and he’s beat the best. He has a win over Cain so I think it comes down to whoever implements their game plan the best is going to win the fight.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While Miocic expects to mix it up with the winner of this fight sometime in 2017, he’s also interested in a much discussed scrap with troubled light heavyweight legend Jon Jones, who is expected to return to the cage sometime in the near future<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, whoever the UFC wants I’ll fight them,” Miocic said of a possible fight with Jones. “I feel I matchup very well with him. Like I said, it’s want the UFC wants. You want me to fight Jon Jones, Cain, Werdum I don’t really care. I’m not giving this belt up for a long time. I worked way too hard to give it up. My goal is to keep this belt for as long as I can and I’m going to keep it for a long time.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
